Eventhough I am not a newbie (new AV in the Second Life), I figure it is always a good thing to leave a trail of bread crumbs for those who follow after me. So, today, some of the good spots I found over the years, ones with free (L$0 or L$1) items that are not what I would consider inventory fillers, gotten and never used. Doing this, too, since teleportation seems to be busted (again).
The Free Dove – even AVs that have been in world for months (or years) stop by the Dove to see what’s new and free. Palomma and Wilco provide a virtual treasure of free clothes and everything you need to get started in the SL, all for the taking. Pay special attention to newbie vouchers that are tucked away in some of the boxes. Some merchants give out freebies at their stores and upon request.
GNUbie Store – those who use open source software recognize the first three letters. This store has only free or L$1 items of a wide variety. Not just clothes, but scripts, buildings, attachments, a nice cross-section of stuff for use in the SL. It does have a few items that most will never use (like the megaprim skyscraper) – just pass those by, unless you are a newbie sim owner.
The Ivory Tower Library of Prim – not only for you budding builders, but everyone should take the step-by-step tutorial of how prims are shaped, molded, and turned into the wondrous objects found around the SL.
The Particle Laboratory – where you will learn how the sparkly, explosive, and colorful effects called particles are made.
So, these spots will keep you busy for a few hours (and a few thousand additions to your inventory). Now, back to the SL to see if I have a snowballs chance in hell of getting anywhere.
